Legal Translations

While my bread and butter in legal translations are business contracts, lease agreements and similar documents, I have translated court submissions and judgements for cases at multiple instances in multiple jurisdictions, including the courts of highest instance in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Russia. Public Policy, Culture & Academic Translations

I have translated public policy papers and working reports for major European institutions, exhibition texts for numerous museums, art galleries and public cultural institutes, and academic papers on such far-ranging subjects as online extremism, labour rights and ancient hill fortifications. Literary Translations

As a literary translator, I was selected as the Winner of the Goethe-Institut Translation Award 2023 and have translations published or forthcoming in journals such as The Dodge, Mayday, Your Impossible Voice, Subnivean and Turkoslavia (details here). I have also worked on pitches of full-length manuscripts with publishers including Hanser, Rowohlt, V&Q, Cyranka and Turbine, and I additionally work as a reader for New Books in German and London Literary Scouting.

But enough about work…

During my BA (1st Class in German and Russian, University of Bristol), I focused on literature, history and linguistics, and wrote my dissertation on linguistic nationalism in the Germany/Denmark border region in the second half of the 19th century.

During my MA (Distinction in Cultural Studies, SOAS), I focused largely on history, film and gender studies, and wrote my dissertation on nationalism in contemporary Kyrgyzstan through the lens of ‘independent’ histories.

Outside of translation, I am a passionate fan of rugby and ice hockey and a keen skater. I also love to travel (including to places where I don’t speak the local lingo!) and in my spare time I am a volunteer labour organiser.

I am open to all translation projects which fall within the specialisations described above and am always happy to look at a text first to assess my suitability to translate it.
